Unnest

Unnest in one click.

In Premiere, unnesting takes four manual steps. Mako does it in place, in one click.

  • Every clip back on its own track, in place

  • Effects, keyframes, speed and linked audio kept

  • Can't rebuild a clip? The nest stays as it is

Keyboard shortcuts

Every button. Your keys.

Give any Mako button a shortcut and fire it from the keyboard.

  1. Right-click a button

    Choose Keyboard Shortcut.

  2. Press your keys

A modifier and a key, like ⌥1, or an F key on its own.

  3. Use them in Premiere

They work whenever Premiere is in front.

Everything included

Small panel. Big time saver.

Mako sits next to your timeline and takes the busywork out of Premiere Pro.

  • Docks like the Tools panel

One column when it's narrow, a row when it's wide. It fits wherever you put it.

  • Looks like part of Premiere

Adobe's own Spectrum icons, and it follows your panel brightness setting.

  • Your own shortcuts

Right-click any button to give it a key that works while you're in the timeline.

  • Never overwrites a clip

New layers go on the first free track above. If there's none, Mako adds one.

  • Instant

An adjustment layer usually lands in a few hundredths of a second.

  • No pop-ups

No messages and no extra windows. The result just appears in Premiere.

  • A tidy project

Adjustment layers live in a Mako bin and get reused, so your project doesn't fill up.

  • Free for good

No license key, no account and no trial. Download it and it's yours.

Questions

10 items
  • What is Mako?

Mako is a free panel for Premiere Pro with six one-click buttons: Adjustment Layer, Color Matte, New Sequence, Transparency Grid, Unnest and Delete Empty Tracks. Each one does something Premiere otherwise does through a menu, a dialog or by hand.

  • Is it really free?

Yes. There's no license key, no account and no trial. Check out for $0, download it and it's yours, updates included.

  • Where do adjustment layers and color mattes go?

Over the clips you've selected, on the first free, unlocked track above them. With nothing selected they cover five seconds from the playhead. Mako adds a track when there's no free one and never overwrites a clip.

  • How does Unnest work?

Select a nested sequence in your timeline and press Unnest. Its clips go back on their tracks, in place, with their effects, keyframes, speed, names and on/off state, and linked audio stays linked. If a clip can't be rebuilt (for example a title, a multicam clip or a time-remapped clip), Mako leaves the nest as it is. Each step can be undone.

  • What doesn't come along when unnesting?

Keyframe easing, masks, transitions and effects applied to the nest itself, the same as when you unnest by hand.

  • Can I set keyboard shortcuts?

Yes. Right-click any button and choose Keyboard Shortcut. Shortcuts work while you're in the timeline or the monitor, as long as the Mako panel is open (docked behind another tab is fine).

  • How do I open Mako in Premiere Pro?

After installing, open it from Window › Extensions › Mako and dock it wherever you like. It lays its buttons out in a column when it's narrow and in a row when it's wide.

  • Which Premiere Pro versions are supported?

Mako works with Adobe Premiere Pro 2021–2026 on Windows and macOS.

  • How do I get my download?

Add Mako to your cart and check out. It's free, so no card is needed. Your download appears right after checkout on the order confirmation page, and we also email you the link.
