How to install & customize MOGRT files

1. What Are MOGRTs?

MOGRTs (Motion Graphics Templates) are pre-made animations and graphic templates created in Adobe After Effects or Premiere Pro, which you can import and edit in Premiere Pro. MOGRTs are perfect for adding animated elements like titles, lower thirds, transitions, or number animations to your video projects.

2. Importing MOGRTs in Premiere Pro

For Premiere Pro 2018–2024

  1. Open the Essential Graphics Panel:

    • Go to Window > Essential Graphics to make the Essential Graphics panel visible.

  2. Install the MOGRT File:

    • In the Essential Graphics panel, click on the Browse tab.
    • Click the + icon (Import Motion Graphics Template) at the bottom right of the panel.
    • Navigate to your MOGRT file, select it, and click Open.
    • Once imported, you’ll see the template in the Essential Graphics panel.

  3. Add to Timeline:

    • Drag the MOGRT from the Essential Graphics panel directly onto your timeline.

For Premiere Pro 2025

Premiere Pro 2025 has an updated import workflow and organized panel options:

  1. Open the Graphics Templates Tab:

    • Ensure the Graphics Templates tab is visible in your workspace.
    • If it’s not enabled, go to Window > Graphics Templates and select it to make it visible. This tab is where your MOGRT files are stored and organized.

  2. Import the MOGRT File:

    • Click and drag your MOGRT file directly into the Graphics Templates tab. Premiere Pro 2025 will automatically import the file for easy access and categorization.

  3. Add to Timeline and Adjust in the Properties Tab:

    • Drag the MOGRT from the Graphics Templates tab onto your timeline.
    • To make adjustments, go to the Properties tab. If you don’t see the Properties tab, enable it by going to Window > Properties. Here, you’ll be able to fine-tune settings like colors, fonts, and layout.

3. Customizing MOGRTs

Basic Customization (2018–2025)

  1. Select the MOGRT on the Timeline:

    • Click the MOGRT clip on the timeline to enable editing options.

  2. Editing Options in the Essential Graphics Panel (2018–2024):

    • Go to the Edit tab within the Essential Graphics panel to make adjustments.

  3. Editing Options in the Properties Tab (2025):

    • In Premiere Pro 2025, use the Properties tab to access customizable features like font, size, color, position, and animation timing.

  4. Additional Customization for Advanced MOGRTs:

    • Some MOGRTs have extra controls (sliders, checkboxes) that provide additional adjustments.

4. Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Missing Panels or Tabs:

    • If any panel is missing (such as Graphics Templates or Properties), go to Window in the top menu and select the necessary panel from the dropdown list to make it visible.

  • Performance Lag:

    • Lower playback quality to 1/2 or 1/4 in the Program Monitor for smoother performance with complex MOGRTs.
