Step 1: Download the obsolete effects preset pack
You need the preset file that contains the obsolete effects. The one used in the video is a free Premiere 2024 Obsolete Effect Presets file with a .prfpset extension, and you can download it as our free Restored Obsolete Effects pack. Save the file somewhere easy to find, like your Downloads folder, and remember where it is. You do not need to unzip or open the preset file itself.
Step 2: Open the Effects panel menu
In Premiere Pro, go to the Effects panel. If it is not on your screen, open it from Window > Effects. Right click the panel name or click the small menu icon in the top corner of the panel to open its menu.
Step 3: Choose Import Presets
In the panel menu, click Import Presets.... A file window opens.

Step 4: Select the preset file
Browse to the folder where you saved the file, click the Premiere 2024 Obsolete Effect Presets file to select it and click Open. Premiere Pro imports the presets straight away. You do not see a progress message, so go back to the Effects panel to check.

Step 5: Find the restored effects
In the Effects panel, open the Presets folder. You will find a new folder called 2024 Obsolete Effects. Open it and you will see all the missing effects in a list, such as Antialias, Arithmetic, Auto Color, Auto Contrast, Auto Levels, Bend, Bevel Alpha and Bevel Edges, and many more below them.

Step 6: Use the effects on your clips
Use them like any other effect. Drag one onto a clip on your timeline, or double click it to apply it to the selected clip. Then change its settings in Effect Controls as usual. You can also search for an effect by name in the search box at the top of the Effects panel.

Tips
- Keep the file. If you reinstall Premiere Pro or use another computer, import the same preset file again.
- Check the Presets folder, not Video Effects. The restored effects live under Presets, so they will not show up in the normal Video Effects folders.
- Restart if needed. If the folder does not appear, close and reopen Premiere Pro.

Where do imported presets appear in Premiere Pro?

Is it safe to import a preset file?
A .prfpset file only adds presets inside Premiere Pro. Download it from a source you trust, such as our Restored Obsolete Effects pack.
