Step 1: Select the clip that has no audio
Look at your timeline. Here the clip sits on V1 and the audio tracks A1 to A3 below it are completely empty. Click the video clip to select it.
Step 2: Press F to open the clip in the Source Monitor
With the clip selected, press F. This is the Match Frame shortcut, and it loads the original source file into the Source Monitor at the same frame where your playhead is. Your original file still contains its audio even if the timeline clip does not.
Step 3: Use the waveform icon to drag the audio only
Under the Source Monitor picture, find the waveform icon. It is labelled Drag Audio Only when you hover over it. If you cannot see it, click the + at the right end of the monitor buttons to open the button editor. Click and hold the waveform icon with the left mouse button.
Step 4: Drop the audio below your clip
Keep holding and drag the audio down to an audio track in the timeline, such as A1, directly below your video. Line it up with the start of the video clip and release. You have now located the audio and it plays together with your video again.
Tips
- Check the playhead position. Match Frame opens the source at the playhead, so for a clean sync, place the playhead on the first frame of the clip first.
- Use this for any clip. It works for any clip whose audio was removed, unlinked or never added, so long as the original file has sound.

How do I get the audio back for a video clip in Premiere Pro?

What does the F key do in Premiere Pro?
