Step 1: Open the Console
With Premiere Pro open, press Ctrl + F12 on Windows or Command + F12 on Mac. A small Console window pops up. On some laptops you may need to hold the Fn key as well to trigger F12.
Step 2: Switch to Debug Database View
Click the small menu icon (the three lines) next to the word Console in the top-left corner of the window and select Debug Database View. The window now lists a long set of internal settings.

Step 3: Search for the language setting
Click the search field at the top and type language. A short list remains. The one you need is ApplicationLanguage. Next to it you will see the current language code, for example en_US for English.

Step 4: Type the new language code
Click the value next to ApplicationLanguage, delete the existing text and type the code for your new language. For Spanish, type es_ES. The video lists these codes:
- Spanish: es_ES
- Portuguese (Brazil): pt_BR
- French: fr_FR
- German: de_DE
- Italian: it_IT
To go back to English, type the English code that was there originally, en_US. Press Enter to confirm the value.

Step 5: Restart Premiere Pro
Close the Console window, then close and reopen Premiere Pro. The next time it starts, the whole interface appears in the new language. Here the Effects panel now reads Efectos and the folders are in Spanish.

Tips
- Save your work first. You need to restart Premiere Pro, so save your project before closing.
- Keep the old code. Note the original value before you edit it so you can always switch back.
- Tutorials in another language. If you follow English tutorials but your menus are in another language, switch to en_US so that effect and panel names match. Our best Premiere Pro plugins guide uses the English names.
