The best easing plugin for Premiere Pro 2022

For documentary and long-form editors on Premiere Pro 2022 (version 22), the best easing plugin is EaseFlow. Its graph editor lets you shape a slow, gentle curve by hand, and one click puts that curve on any pair of keyframes. It works in Premiere Pro 2022 on Mac and Windows, for a one-time price.

Long-form motion is slow motion. A push-in on an archival photo, a drift across a map, a lower third that eases into frame: every one of them lasts long enough for the eye to notice a flat, mechanical speed. A soft curve is what makes those moves feel calm and intentional.

Shape the curve by hand

The heart of EaseFlow for documentary work is its graph editor. Drag the two handles and the curve reshapes live, while the four numbers next to Apply update as you go. Hold Shift to snap and Alt to mirror, so a symmetrical ease takes seconds.

Every change is previewed live, so you can judge the feel of a slow move before it touches your timeline. A faint second curve shows the easing already on your keyframes, which helps when you revisit a scene weeks later.

Slow moves need a gentle curve

For a photo push-in, a long S-curve works beautifully: the move starts almost unseen, carries through the middle and settles without a bump. Start from Sine In Out or Cubic In Out in the Default pack, then stretch the handles until the start and finish are as soft as the shot needs.

One look across the whole film

A long project needs consistency. When a curve feels right, save it with + so it is one click away, star it as a favorite, and export the library to share it with an assistant editor. Every lower third and every map move in the film can then share the same feel.

Premiere Pro 2022 is a good fit for that kind of handoff too: it introduced Simplify Sequence, which makes a clean copy of a sequence for sharing with another editor or archiving.

Everything in the panel

  • A real graph editor. Shape any curve by hand, with snapping, mirroring and a live preview.
  • Your own library. Save your own curves, star favorites, and import or export whole libraries.
  • Apply at the playhead. Eases the keyframes at or nearest the playhead, on every selected clip at once.
  • Classic curves built in. The Default pack has 25 curves: Sine, Quad, Cubic, Expo, Circ, Back and more, each as In, Out and In Out.
  • One-step undo. One Cmd+Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows) takes the easing back off, and your own keyframes never move.
  • Preset shortcuts. Give a favorite curve its own key for the hundredth lower third.
  • Auto Mode. Two new keyframes are eased automatically with your current curve.
  • Mac and Windows. The same panel on both systems, kept up to date by its menu bar app.

Standard is $24.99 one-time with the full plugin and 25 curves. Pro is $34.99 one-time and adds 47 extra presets, 72 curves in total, plus every future pack. For a feature-by-feature tour, read our EaseFlow guide.

Step 1: Install and dock the panel

Your key and download links arrive by email after checkout. Run the installer, open Premiere Pro 2022 and dock the EaseFlow panel beside Effect Controls, where it stays out of the way during a long session.

Step 2: Keyframe a slow push-in

Place an archival photo on the timeline and set two Scale keyframes, and two Position keyframes if you want it to drift. Put them several seconds apart, as long-form moves usually are.

Step 3: Shape, apply and save

Pick Sine In Out, adjust the handles until the preview feels right, and click Apply with the playhead on the keyframes. Save the curve with +, and use it again on every photo in the film.
