Step 1: Open the Lumetri Color panel
The vignette controls live in the Lumetri Color panel. If you do not see it on the right side of your workspace, go to Window in the top menu and click Lumetri Color. A checkmark next to the name means the panel is open. It also appears as a tab next to Effects and Essential Graphics in the default Editing workspace.

Step 2: Select your clip
Click the clip on the timeline that you want to add the vignette to. The Lumetri Color panel only shows settings for the selected clip, so if the sections look empty or greyed out, check that a clip is actually selected. For one vignette across many clips, put an adjustment layer above them and select that instead.
One click with Mako: the free Mako panel adds an adjustment layer over the selected clips, at the playhead, on the first free track, in one click. Get Mako for free
Step 3: Open the Vignette section
In Lumetri Color you will see a list of sections: Basic Correction, Creative, Curves, Color Wheels & Match, HSL Secondary and Vignette. Click Vignette to expand it. You get four sliders: Amount, Midpoint, Roundness and Feather.

Step 4: Adjust the Amount
Drag the Amount slider to the left to darken the edges, or to the right to lighten them into a white glow. A small move already makes a visible difference, and the video shows values of only about -2 for a gentle look. Keep an eye on the Program Monitor while you drag. For most videos, a subtle vignette looks more natural than a heavy dark frame.
Step 5: Set the Midpoint
The Midpoint slider controls how far the vignette reaches toward the center. A lower value pulls the darkening further into the picture, which gives you a stronger focus point on the middle of the frame. A higher value keeps the effect near the edges. The video lowers the Midpoint to around 16 to show how the vignette closes in on the subject.

Step 6: Fine-tune Roundness and Feather
For extra control, use the last two sliders. Roundness changes the shape of the vignette. Move it one way for a rounder, more circular shape and the other way for a more rectangular one that follows the frame. Feather sets how soft the transition is. A high feather blends the edge smoothly, while a low feather gives a harder border. Adjust all four sliders together until the vignette looks natural for your shot.
Tips
- Keep it subtle. If viewers notice the vignette, it is probably too strong. Lower the Amount until it only feels like extra depth.
- Reset quickly. Double-click a slider's name or value to reset it to the default, or use the reset arrow at the top of the Lumetri panel.
- Combine with color. A vignette works best together with color grading. Start with the other Lumetri sections, or read how to blur the background for another way to focus attention on your subject.
FAQ
Where is the vignette effect in Premiere Pro?
It is in the Lumetri Color panel, in the Vignette section at the bottom of the list. Open the panel with Window > Lumetri Color.
How do I make a white vignette in Premiere Pro?
Drag the Amount slider to the right instead of the left. Positive values lighten the edges instead of darkening them.
Can I apply a vignette to several clips at once?
Yes. Add an adjustment layer above your clips, select it and apply the vignette in Lumetri Color. Everything underneath gets the same vignette.
