The answer for wedding filmmakers
The best effect search plugin for Premiere Pro 2025 is BetterFX. It learns the handful of effects you use on every wedding and keeps them at the top, so the next one is usually waiting before you type a letter.
BetterFX works in Premiere Pro 2025 (version 25) on Mac and Windows. It is $29.99 one-time, with lifetime access and free updates included.
A wedding day leaves you with hours of footage: getting ready, the ceremony, the speeches, the first dance and the party. Across all of it you apply the same few effects again and again. BetterFX remembers them for you.

Why it fits a wedding edit
Wedding and event editors don't need a hundred effects. They need their twelve favorites, instantly, for a very long timeline. That is exactly what BetterFX is tuned for.
- Smart ranking. BetterFX learns which effects, presets and plugins you reach for and moves them to the top. The more films you cut, the fewer letters you need.
- Recent effects. Open BetterFX with an empty search and your last five effects are listed, newest first.
- Favorites. Star the effects that make up your style so they always rank first.
- Your look. Dark, Light or see-through Glass, with nine accent colors.
- Performance optimized. Built to run fast, even on large, effect-heavy projects like a full-day wedding.
- Third-party effects too. Glows and looks from plugins like Sapphire sit in the same search, with an optional 3rd party tag.
Step 1: Install BetterFX in Premiere Pro 2025
Download BetterFX right after checkout, or from the link in your email, and run the installer. It sets up the BetterFX app and the Premiere Pro plugin together.
Open your wedding project in Premiere Pro 2025, select a clip and press Option + Space on a Mac or Alt + Space on Windows. The search bar opens over your edit.
Step 2: Start from your recent effects
Grade the first ceremony shot as usual with Lumetri Color. Then select the next shot and open BetterFX without typing anything. Your Recent Effects are already listed, so Enter applies Lumetri Color again.
The same goes for the speeches. Apply DeNoise to the first toast, and for every toast after that it is one press away. You stay in the rhythm of the edit instead of browsing folders.

Step 3: Star your signature effects
Every wedding filmmaker has a look. Maybe it is a soft Gaussian Blur layered for a dreamy glow on the first dance. Our dreamy glow effect tutorial shows that look step by step.
Click the star next to those effects in the BetterFX panel to pin them as favorites. Now a single b brings Gaussian Blur to the top, because it is both a favorite and your most used effect.

Pair it with a warm film glow, like the one in our guide to film halation in Premiere Pro, and your whole style is a few keystrokes away.
Step 4: Match it to your Premiere theme
Premiere Pro 2025 brought a refreshed, modern design with dark and light modes. BetterFX fits right in. Open the Appearance settings in the BetterFX panel and choose Dark, Light or Glass, then pick one of nine accent colors.
Change it any time. A light search bar on a bright morning edit, a dark one for late-night color work.
