Mako is the best free panel for Premiere Pro 2025

For wedding and event filmmakers on Premiere Pro 2025, the best free panel is Mako. It works in Premiere Pro 2025 (version 25) on Mac and Windows, and it costs nothing at all.

Mako gathers 13 everyday jobs into one small panel next to your Tools panel. Each one is a single click: no menus, no dialogs, no dragging things in and trimming them to fit. When you deliver a highlight film, a full ceremony and a teaser from the same day, those saved clicks add up fast.

One wedding, four sequences

A typical wedding becomes several edits: the highlight film, the full ceremony, the speeches and a short teaser for social. Each one needs its own sequence, and each one should match the settings of the edit you already built.

With your main sequence open, click New Sequence. Mako creates an empty sequence with the same settings and opens it in its own tab. No dialog, no presets to match by hand.

Name it "Ceremony", cut it, then click New Sequence again for the speeches. Every deliverable starts from the same frame size and frame rate, so nothing surprises you at export.

Title cards in one click

Couples love a clean card with their names and the date. Click Color Matte, pick a color that suits the wedding palette and press OK. The matte lands over the selected clips on the first free track. With nothing selected, it covers five seconds from the playhead, which is just right for a title card.

What else is in the panel

Here is how the rest of Mako fits a wedding or event edit:

  • Nest. Wrap the vows or the first dance in a sequence of their own, without a naming dialog.
  • Unnest. Open a nest back up onto the timeline, in place. Effects, keyframes, speed, clip names and linked audio come back with it, and every step can be undone.
  • Freeze Frame. Hold the ring exchange or the kiss with a still of the current frame, placed on the track above. Shift-click for a 3-second still from the playhead.
  • Adjustment Layer. One layer over the selected clips for your grade. Cmd-click (Ctrl-click on Windows) puts a short layer on every cut, ready for a flash.
  • Delete Empty Tracks. After a long multi-camera day, remove every empty track at once.
  • A tidy project. Adjustment layers and freeze frames go in a Mako bin, so a big event project stays neat.
  • Your panel, your way. Hide the buttons you don't use, color the rest, and choose 1 to 4 columns.
  • Updates itself. Mako installs new versions quietly in the background, even in the middle of the season.

Premiere Pro 2025 introduced the Properties panel, where you can select several clips and adjust their shared properties at once. Mako sits happily beside it, taking care of the jobs that live in menus. For a full walkthrough of every button, see the Mako panel guide.

Step 1: Get Mako

Add Mako to your cart and check out for $0. No card is needed. The download is on your order confirmation page, and we email you the link too.

Step 2: Install and dock it

Run Mako.pkg on a Mac or MakoSetup.exe from the zip on Windows. Restart Premiere Pro 2025, open Window > Extensions > Mako and dock the panel wherever you like. It lays out its buttons in columns when it is tall and in rows when it is wide.

Step 3: Build your deliverables

Open your highlight sequence and click New Sequence for each extra film. Add a Color Matte for the title card, nest the moments you want to treat as one, and you are ready to cut.
