The answer for commercial editors
The best effect search plugin for Premiere Pro 2024 is BetterFX. It finds any effect or preset from a few letters, and it lets you put the ones you use on every job on their own keyboard shortcut.
BetterFX works in Premiere Pro 2024 (version 24) on Mac and Windows, from 24.0 through the 24.6 update. It is $29.99 one-time, with lifetime access, free updates and a commercial license for paid client work.
Ads live and die by revisions. The brand grade goes on every product shot, the hero shot needs to be steadier, and then the same changes go into the 30, 15 and 6 second cutdowns. BetterFX turns each of those repeat jobs into a single key press.

Built for client revisions
Commercial work is repetitive in the best way: the same look, the same fixes, applied with care to a lot of shots. These are the BetterFX features that make that fast.
- Custom shortcuts. Give any effect, preset or third-party plugin its own key combination. Select your clips, press the keys, done. No search needed.
- Custom presets. Save your own presets, keyframes included, and apply them as fast as any built-in effect. They show up in search with a small custom preset tag.
- Apply to every selected clip. Select all the product shots and apply once. The effect lands on each of them.
- Favorites. Pin the effects you reach for on every brand so they sit at the top of your results.
- Intelligent search. Type a name, an abbreviation or a few remembered letters, and BetterFX brings the right effect forward.
- Unified search. Built-in effects, your custom presets and third-party effects from plugins like Sapphire and Boris FX share one search bar.
Step 1: Install BetterFX in Premiere Pro 2024
Your download is ready right after checkout and is also sent by email. Run the installer for your operating system. It sets up both the BetterFX app and the Premiere Pro plugin, so there is no manual setup.
Open Premiere Pro 2024, select a clip and press Option + Space on a Mac or Alt + Space on Windows. The BetterFX search bar opens right over your timeline.
Step 2: Bring in the client's look
Most brands have a look: a grade, a punch-in move, a signature transition hit. Save it as a Premiere Pro preset once, then import the .prfpset file into BetterFX. If you have never saved one, our guide on how to make a preset in Premiere Pro walks you through it.
From then on, your presets appear under Custom Presets in search, next to every built-in effect. Type cin and Cinematic Grade is right there.

Step 3: Give it its own shortcut
For the effects you use on every spot, skip the search entirely. In the BetterFX panel, click the shortcut field next to an effect or preset and press the keys you want, for example Option + 1 for Warp Stabilizer. BetterFX warns you if the keys clash with something else.
Now select the shaky hero shot and press Option + 1. Warp Stabilizer is applied and starts analyzing while your hands stay on the keyboard. Your shortcuts also show as tags in the search results, so you never have to remember them.

Step 4: Apply it across every cutdown
Open the 15 second version, select every product shot in the timeline and press your preset's shortcut, or search for it and press Enter. The grade lands on all of them at once and shows up in Effect Controls, ready for a final tweak.
If the client approves the grade in one sequence first, you can also move it between sequences the classic way. See how to copy color grading in Premiere Pro.
