A tool you shape once and keep

The core is simple: press Option + Space on a Mac or Alt + Space on Windows, type a few letters, press Enter. What makes BetterFX stick is everything around that, all set from one panel inside Premiere Pro.

  • Favorites. Pin the effects you reach for constantly.
  • Hidden effects. Hide anything you never use, including Premiere's legacy copies.
  • Your own shortcuts. Any effect, preset or third-party plugin gets the keys you choose.
  • Appearance. Dark, Light or Glass, with nine accent colors.
  • Profiles. Save, export and import your whole setup.
  • Smart ranking. Recent, favorite and most-used effects rise to the top.

Step 1: Install in three simple steps

Download BetterFX right after checkout, or from the link we email you. Run the installer and it sets up the BetterFX app and the Premiere Pro plugin. Then select a clip in Premiere and press your shortcut.

Updates install automatically, so you're always on the latest version without thinking about it.

Step 2: Clean up what search shows

Open the BetterFX panel and go to the Search tab. Turn off Show in search results under Legacy Effects and Premiere's old (Legacy) duplicates disappear from your results and your recent effects.

Then click the eye next to any effect you never touch. It's gone from search, and you can bring it back any time from the Hidden tab. If you ever need an older effect back in Premiere itself, here's how to restore obsolete effects in Premiere Pro.

Step 3: Pin favorites and add your own keys

Star the handful of effects you use on every project and they stay close in search. BetterFX also learns as you edit, so the effects you use most keep moving up on their own.

For your true staples, click the shortcut field next to one in the panel and press a combination such as Option + Shift + B for Gaussian Blur. BetterFX warns you about clashes, and the shortcut shows as a small tag in your search results.

Step 4: Pick a look that suits your screen

In the Appearance tab, choose Dark, Light or Glass, then pick an accent from Black, White, Blue, Green, Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Pink. You can also decide whether third-party effects get a tag and whether legacy effects appear.

Glass mode lets your edit show softly through the bar, which looks great over a colorful timeline.

Step 5: Save your setup as a profile

Click Save As to keep your shortcuts, favorites, hidden effects, search settings and appearance as a profile. Export turns it into one small .betterfx.json file, and Import brings it into BetterFX on your other computer.

Keep a profile per client or type of edit and switch whenever you like.

Why BetterFX is worth owning
